After 50, the urge to throw a birthday party diminishes with each passing year. It’s much easier to ignore the thinning of the scalp and the ever-growing roundness of the belly, not to mention the sagging parts of the anatomy that should have otherwise stayed firm. For my 56th, I thought it would be fun to treat the family to a private dinner at Le Loft, a Michelin Star restaurant on the 18th floor of Sofitel Vienna with a spectacular view of the city centre. We just concluded a successful fund-raising campaign for the flood victims in the Philippines, and I thought we deserved the treat.
